ABOUT COLORSCAPE

Inspired by abstract geometric paintings, fiber art, stained glass windows, fashion design, and the colors and contour lines of the natural landscape, Rachel Hayes has created fiber-art installations that cover sand dunes, cross rivers, and billow over mountains. For this unique project, Hayes was commissioned by Interform to design a new site-specific installation in the Quonset Hut.

“My thoughts were to create a color field installation that would cascade, billow, and 'bop' through the long room…using a range of tones, colors, opacities, and referencing the idea of 'color blocking', a fashion term, we can look through the work, and to our surrounding environment, as well as walk around and touch - the colors change throughout the day along with the ever changing skies and wind. At night the piece will glow from within for all to see.”
